SpillHere ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is accessed, collected, used, and shared by SpillHere. We built SpillHere with a strict focus on privacy and security.
SpillHere requires access to your device's Location and Bluetooth services. These are used exclusively for discovering nearby users. When scanning or advertising, your device emits an ephemeral cryptographic hash token over Bluetooth. This allows you to find people physically near you. We do not track, record, upload, or monetize your GPS coordinates.
Once you connect with a nearby user, all chat messaging and media sharing is handled over the internet via our Google Firebase backend; chats are not transmitted over Bluetooth. Your messages, media attachments, and contacts are stored securely on your device inside SQLCipher-encrypted SQLite tables, and are securely transmitted and stored on our Firebase infrastructure to facilitate real-time delivery and push notifications. We do not use, index, or analyze these messages for any marketing or tracking purposes.
We automatically collect certain non-personally identifiable usage data when you use the app, such as device type, operating system version, app interactions, and crash reports. This is strictly used to improve the stability and performance of the app.
The permissions requested by the app (Bluetooth, Location, Microphone, Camera) are used exclusively to facilitate discovering nearby peers and communicating with them over the internet. Usage data is used solely for debugging and optimizing app performance.
SpillHere utilizes third-party services provided by Google Firebase to power the application. These include:
These third-party services may collect information used to identify you in accordance with their respective privacy policies. We do not sell, license, or share your data with data-brokers or advertising networks.
You maintain absolute sovereignty over your identity. You can permanently delete your account at any time using the "Delete Account & Data" feature within the app's Profile settings. Triggering this action irreversibly wipes your cryptographic keypairs, local SQLite database, and cached media from your device. It also triggers an automated cloud function that completely purges all of your chats, media, and orphaned data from our Google Firebase backend servers.
SpillHere does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
